Songfacts®:

  • In an interview with Rap-Up, Cole was asked what song from the Just Like You album lets her audience feel her emotion in a way that a lot of R&B can't do nowadays. Cole replied: "It's this song called 'I Remember' and it comes from that same place (as 'Love' did on her debut album). That song is speaking on, 'I remember at that time.' It's not saying that I'm going through it now but I do remember. So I think that it brought that emotion back up."
  • This topped the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart for 7 weeks. It was Cole's first solo #1 on this survey, though she'd previously been in peak position for three weeks with "Let It Go," which also featured Missy Elliott and Lil Kim.
