Lehrer wrote this parody of "What 'Mother' Means To Me" during a subway trip in his early days at Harvard. He noticed that the first letters of the subway stops during his trip - Harvard, Central, Kendall, Charles, Park, and Washington (now Downtown Crossing) - spell the nonsense "hckcpw." Lehrer pronounced the group of letters by hocking a loogey and then spitting, followed by the lyrics, "which is just about what Boston means to me." Lehrer never recorded the song, but he did perform it during a radio interview. (thanks, Sean - Chicago, IL)
