Songfacts®:  You can leave comments about the song at the bottom of the page.

In a press release to promote the Danzig II: Lucifuge album, band leader and singer Glenn Danzig said of this song: "The Catholics and the Baptists have perverted the teachings of Christ. Worshiping their version of Christ could be considered by some to be as bad as worshiping Satan."
Glenn Danzig has on more than one occasion angrily pointed out the similarity between the main riff of "Sex Type Thing" by the Stone Temple Pilots (released in 1992) and "Snakes of Christ" (released in 1990). (thanks, Travis - Waterloo, NY)
This was produced by Rick Rubin, who has worked with artists in a variety of Genr├ęs, including Run-D.M.C., the Dixie Chicks and The Mars Volta.
