Songfacts®:

  • This is one of several songs Kenny wrote for his second wife, Julia, before they got married. It is done in a Take 6/Bobby McFerrin style - he thanks Bobby McFerrin and Voiceorchestra in the liner notes. Very swoonful. They were together until 2003.
  • Kenny calls his choir "KC Logs" after his full name Kenneth Clark Loggins. >>

  • Leap Of Faith is Loggins' first album since his divorce from his first wife, Eva Ein. The cover art features the singer holding his daughter Isabella, who was born in 1988, and reflects the family theme that runs throughout the record. "The record itself chronicles the last couple years of my life," Loggins told Later with Bob Costas in 1991. "Family is a central figure in that, you know, going through separation and divorce and a sort of transformation of who I am, my priorities."

  • Jim Ellis from San DiegoThis was created for the same woman who inspired his later sad sap song "I'm Learning Not to Hate You" upon their separation. Perhaps the hatred is actually a self-hatred for his decisions to leave his first wife and kids for this not so "sweet reunion."
  • Bert De Leon from Manila Philippines I am a record producer in Manila, Philippines and I would like to do a female singer’s cover version of Sweet Reunion. Who do I get the mechanical license from? I imagine Kenny has his own publishing company. In any case, I’m eager to get started on it so I hope this helps catch the attention of the right people.
