  • Kristinia DeBarge is the daughter of James DeBarge from the R&B family group DeBarge. (Check out "Rhythm of the Night" and "Who's Holding Donna Now"). Prior to hooking up with Kristinia's mother, her father was briefly married to Janet Jackson between 1984-85.
  • This club banger was Kristinia's debut single.
  • The song was produced by Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds. Babyface is known for his R&B production and songwriting, in particular for his contribution to the creation of new jack swing in the late 1980s. Babyface, who along with his LaFace Records co-founder L.A. Reid opened for the group DeBarge when they were bandmates in The Deele, launched his new SodaPop/Island record label with Exposed. It's a partnership with Island Def Jam, which is now run by Reid.
  • This samples Steam's 1969 chart-topper " Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye." Rap-Up.com asked Kristinia if she'd heard the original version before she recorded this song. She replied: "Yes, I was familiar with the original 1969 Steam version before we recorded it. I researched the song on the Internet with Babyface. He has been great to work with."
  • The song featured in a 2009 television advertising campaign for Nivea.
  • Kristinia DeBarge told Digital Spy: "It's a strong, confident, feelgood song - it's an empowerment song. It's a song women can listen to when they're feeling weak or sad about a relationship, or insecure about how this man who doesn't deserve them is treating them. The message is 'I'm moving on to a new chapter of my life and I'm excited about it'."
  • Digital Spy asked Kristinia what the phrase "new single girl swag" meant. She replied: "When I say that, I have such attitude and conviction! A lot of girls will understand what I mean by that. It means you're excited about getting back on the market, you're making sure in your shape, you're shopping for new clothes and you really want to look your best. You're basically putting on your game face. You're about to go out and be that single girl who all the guys want again."
  • Kristinia told Digital Spy how she hooked up with Babyface: "I actually met through him through a manager I had when I was 14-years-old. I was really excited to meet him because a year prior to that I was on (American Idolspin-off) American Juniors and when people asked me who I most wanted to work with, I'd always say Babyface. I did whatever I could to get into his hands and the day we met we just fell in love with one another. We've been working together ever since. He's the most awesome, laid-back, humble person I've ever met. Of course, nobody will ever replace my dad, but he's like a father to me."
