Songfacts®:

  • Blackpool electropop singer-songwriter Victoria Hesketh took the English translation of the name of the infamously debauched Roman emperor Caligula as her stage name. After she came top of the BBC's Sound of 2009 list, which aims to highlight the best new music talent for the new year, there was great anticipation for her debut release, Hands.
  • Lady Gaga collaborator RedOne co-wrote this song about getting over an ex. Pop Justice asked Little Boots if the intention behind her collaboration with RedOne was to pen a song that was designed to be a hit record. She replied: "Well no, exactly. It was more a case that we specifically said that that we would put two days aside and make it f--king good. No pressure, then! (Laughs) Then you've got everyone knocking on the door going, 'you're the sound of 2009, we want to talk to you'. And I'm thinking, 'what do they mean Sound Of 2009? What a ridiculous statement!'. And I'd just finished 'Remedy' at that point and I was a bit scared of it to start with. But my little brother, who's 15 years old and lives in Blackpool and listens to donk music all day – well, 'Remedy' is his favourite song that he and his mates dance to. And when he told me that I was like, 'brilliant. That's the point'. Which is amazing!"
