  • Edmunds scored a big hit in 1970 with "I Hear You Knocking," then went on to form the band Rockpile. "Slipping Away" brought him back to the US charts, and this song was the follow-up. It's about a guy who's totally into a girl he barely knows; he wants to learn more about her so that he can become the man of her dreams. >>

  • Edmunds wrote this song with Mark Radice, who had a minor hit in 1976 with "If You Can't Beat 'Em, Join 'Em." He also co-wrote the Cheap Trick song "Tonight It's You."
  • Jeff Lynne produced this track, adding the distinctive electronic sound he developed in Electric Light Orchestra. Edmunds produced his own material up to this point, but reached out to Lynne for help with the Information album. Lynne also produced the other single from the album, "Slipping Away."

This sound was at odds with Edmunds' previous work, and many of his fans were taken aback by his techno turn. "I got a lot of stick," he said in his Songfacts interview. "Once they heard a synthesizer, it was like, 'Oh, Dave, what have you done? You've sold out!'"
  • The music video was directed by Paul Justman, the brother of Seth Justman of the J. Geils Band. It is set in some kind of futuristic airport, with Edmunds trying desperately to get "information," even asking a fortune teller.
