Songfacts®:

  • Montreal born teenage jazz-pop singer Nikki Yanofsky recorded this ballad for the official theme of broadcaster CTV's Winter Olympics coverage.
  • The song was written by composer Stephan Moccio, whose credits include Celine Dion's 2002 hit "A New Day Will Come" and Alan Frew, who is the lead singer for the Canadian band Glass Tiger.
  • This reached #1 one on the Canadian Hot 100 dated February 27, 2010. It was the first song by a Canadian artist to lead the singles chart since Avril Lavigne's "Girlfriend" climbed to pole position three years previously in March 2007.
  • In a 2020 Songfacts interview with Yanofsky, the singer looked back on her breakthrough hit, saying, "It's a song that really put me on the map in Canada. It was a very pure time in my life. It also shows me how far I've come and how much I've evolved as a person."
