Songfacts®:

  • This hard-hitting ballad was released as the second single from the rock band Breaking Benjamin's fourth studio album, Dear Agony. The song adopted the extended title, "Give Me a Sign (Forever and Ever)" for its single release.
  • The song's hospital-set music video was directed by Nigel Dick and features artwork from Breaking Benjamin's four albums. A picture of the cover art from Saturate is hanging up in the child's room, the old man has the Breaking Benjamin tattoo on his finger from the cover of We Are Not Alone, a visitor whose face can't be seen is the cover from Phobia and the woman's room features the MRI scan of singer Ben Burnley's head from the cover of Dear Agony.

Prior to the video's debut, Burnley had commented that he hoped fans would "recognize and be excited by the inclusion of certain key characters from the band's past". The woman in the hospital bed is Jane from the clip for "The Diary of Jane" and the faceless visitor is the "Evil Angel" from the song of the same name.

  • Violet from Orlando, FlWhen I first heard this song I had to cry. When it says "Does anyone care? Is anybody there?", it still makes me tear up. I feel so alone all the time because it is hard to find a person that knows and wants to be different, and people are scared of what they don't know.
  • Charlie from Las Vegas, Nvwhenever i hear this song it makes me think of my best friend, and how he and i would feel if one of us died.
  • Mick from Los Angeles, CaAmazing song with a great theme, i don't know what else to say about it
