Songfacts®:

  • This song was written in 1945 by Bennie Benjamin and George David Weiss, whose other popular songs include "Echoes," "Rumors Are Flying" and "Surrender." The song was performed week after week on Your Hit Parade by Dorothy Collins, who with Snooky Lansen, was lead vocalist on this very popular TV show. Raymond Scott the very, very smart innovator, was the orchestra leader who took over from his brother (Warnow) early on. This song was a smash hit back then, but Patti Page's 1954 recording remains the most popular version. >>
