Postcards Of Scarborough by Michael Chapman

Album: Fully Qualified SurvivorReleased: 1970
  • Scarborough is a seaside town on the North East coast of England, less than a hundred and sixty miles from Blackpool, on the North West coast, but running to 4 minutes and 7 seconds, Michael Chapman's "Postcards Of Scarborough" is a million miles away from George Formby's "...Stick Of Blackpool Rock", a downtempo, solemn piece for voice and solo acoustic guitar, intensely morose, full of regret, and memories of happier times.
Thirty years and more on, the title was stolen for a book described as "a pictorial view of Scarborough in the early 1900s". (thanks, Alexander Baron - London, England)
