Songfacts®:

  • This is the first single from American metal band Disturbed's fifth album, Asylum. Guitarist Dan Donegan explained to Noisecreep that the song "is about the acknowledgment of global warming." He added: "We took a different approach. We've done, what, 70-80 songs in our career? We don't want to rehash old ideas. I was thinking of global warming issues. David (Draiman, vocals) already had the title and melody, and I made a suggestion to him about global warming. We're not trying to be environmentalists, but maybe our choices in life and the ignorance of how we live is leading us to another way to die and effecting the food chain."
  • This reached #1 on both the Mainstream Rock and Rock Songs charts. It also peaked at #15 on the Alternative Songs tally.
  • The music video, directed by Robert Schober ("Asylum"), shows the devastating effects of pollution and other environmental threats on the planet. The band members did not appear in the clip.
  • Asylum was Disturbed's first album to reach the Top 10 of the UK Albums chart (it peaked at #7).

  • Zero from Nowhere, NjOne of Dan Donegan's most interesting solos it contains digitech pitch shifting, tremolo pedal effects, and sweet fingertapping towards the end. Definately one of the most underrarted guitarists in metal today.
  • Joel from Columbia, ScWow that is just effing disturbed. Pun intended.
Nah, actually it's spot on and if more people heeded the message then maybe we could save our planet from all of the effing republican right-wing neoconservitive a$$holes that don't believe in global warming and that a good Iraqi is a dead Iraqi. Oh by the way it's pronounced "ear-rock" and "ear-ron". If you are going to invade a country (Bush people) at least learn how to say the name of the country so you won't sound like anymore of an idiot than you already are. Okay I am getting off my high horse now. Have a nice day.
