This recording just happens to have come along shortly after Seals & Crofts played the famous California Jam of 1974, where they shared a stage with... Black Sabbath, The Eagles, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Deep Purple, and Earth Wind & Fire. The diverse lineup was telecast in part on an ABC special, giving the duo newfound fame.

. Not at all what you'd expect from looking at the picture, is it? The photo says "Rolling-Stone-inspired, Cheech and Chong tokin' madmen" while the song is so consumer friendly, it's practically shrink-wrapped.
Seals and Crofts are both members of the Baha'i faith - so much so that they'd frequently close their live concerts by passing out literature and preaching onstage about their religion. Baha'i is an original type of religion which unifies beliefs in Abraham, Buddha, Jesus, and Muhammad, in a kind of unified religion in which all of the central figures of other religions are prophets in this one, along with introducing two of its own prophets, the Bab and Baha'u'llah. This integration is so tight that typical decorations on Baha'i temples might include symbols from other religions woven into the design. It's kind of an Esperanto of religions!
