Songfacts®:

  • Minaj takes some shots on this track at an enemy who she says should have befriended her instead. Speculation points at her unnamed adversary being Lil Kim as the pair have a history of beef, dating back to when Kim publicly accused Minaj of copying her style. Amongst the possible clues are the beginning of the track, where Minaj raps "B-tch talkin' she the queen when she looking like lab rat." (Lil Kim is also known as the Queen Bee).
  • According to our slang dictionary, a "Hoe" is a shortened version of "whore" and is used to describe a woman who is thought to be promiscuous. It's usually reduced to "Ho," as Minaj's spelling is also that of a garden tool.
  • We hear actress Jennifer Aniston also getting caught in the crossfire when Minaj spits, "I'm Angelina, You Jennifer/Come on, b-tch. You see where Brad at." Brad Pitt divorced Jennifer Aniston after falling in love with Angelina Jolie on set.
  • Minaj closes the song with the statement, "I'm the female Weezy," a reference to label mate Lil' Wayne. The Queens MC borrowed the line from the Birdman track "Y.U. Mad," which featured her and Wayne.
  • There were 4.8 million views of the colorful Hype Williams-directed video for this song in its first 24 hours after being uploaded to Vevo. According to the video-sharing company this broke the record for the highest single-video views in its first day on the website.
  • The colorful, manic video received a negative critical response from viewers with over 290,000 dislikes in its first 11 days. BET didn’t like Minaj's booty-dancing and writhing in a cage either, banning the clip from their network as they considered it too explicit for TV.
