"Napoleon Solo" is about two of the band's good friends who died in a tragic car accident, both aged 17. The band found out about their deaths after driving from Austin to New Orleans for a show, getting the sad news shortly before they had to play.
The name of the song is taken from a fictional character from the 1960s show The Man from U.N.C.L.E. Napoleon Solo (no relation to Han or Hope), was an enforcement agent played by Robert Vaughn. The title has nothing to do with the subject matter of the song - At the Drive-In often uses TV shows or movies for inspiration.
