This was the first song that the three Perry siblings wrote with the family songwriting team Aaron, Brian and Clara Henningsen for their self-titled debut album. Five of their collaborations eventually made the cut, including this romantic tune. "It's about a girl who is in love with this boy," explained Kimberly Perry to Dave Dawson of Nu Country TV
. "She can't do her thing because he stands so much taller than her - because it's heartbreaking because he has someone else. That's why I fell in love with Catherine Britt's song 'Dirt Cheap.' She's literally telling somebody she can't win. At the end of the song you can't blame the girl for trying."
