Songfacts®:

  • This song finds frontwoman Beth Ditto emboldened by a fresh sense of confidence having conquered her demons. "I have faced my fears. Now I can move in the right direction," she sings.
  • The band penned the song with English songwriter Brian Higgins of pop production company Xenomania, a change of circumstances for the Gossip trio, who generally craft their tunes between them. "It was definitely very different for us to hand over that creative side a little bit and then reinterpret it in our own way," admitted drummer Hannah Blilie to Rolling Stone. "I think we'll try anything once," added guitarist Nathan Howdeshell. "Every time we do a record, I feel like it's totally different from the last one. That's sort of the idea."
