Songfacts®:

  • The second single from The Truth About Love was co-written by the LA/Nashville songwriter busbee, who has previously penned hits for Kelly Clarkson, Katy Perry, Alexandra Burke and Adam Lambert. The other co-writer was musician Ben West, who has released a couple of EPs with busbee under the name "GoNorthToGoSouth."
  • The song is a handclap-heavy ode to hanging onto your dreams and aspirations even if it means taking risks. "Where there is desire there is gonna be a flame," sings Pink on the chorus. "Where there is a flame someone's bound to be get burned. But just because it burns doesn't mean you're gonna die. You gotta get up and try."
  • The Floria Sigismondi-directed video features shots of a paint-covered Pink and her male counterpart expressing their frustrations through dramatic dance moves, choreographed by the Golden Boyz. (who have worked with the likes of Madonna and Britney Spears) and stunt choreographer, Sebastien Stella. It was inspired by the Apache dance, a highly stylized Parisian street performance. "Making this video was the most fun I've ever had in my entire career," said Pink. "I never wanted it to end. It's my favorite video ever."

Pink took to her Twitter page to record her mother's reaction after showing her the risqué dance moves on the clip. "My mom, after seeing the new video... 'Wow, honey. I'm speechless. And uncomfortable. No one can ever say you play it safe.'"

Pink's shirtless romantic partner is played by Broadway dancer Colt Prattes.
  • Pink performed this song at the Grammy Awards in 2014, doing some impressive aerial acrobatics that she had honed on her The Truth About Love tour and recreating some of the scenes from the video. After this performance, she joined Nate Ruess on "Just Give Me A Reason," which was nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and Song Of The Year.
  • This was used on the British TV series Waterloo Road in the 2014 episode "Sugar Daddy."

  • Heavy D from Middle Class UsaGreat song. Lame video.

“Funny how the heart can be deceiving...”

    Got that right, ese.
Mira, reminds me of an old lady I used to run with. Ride or die, ese.
We did everything together, work out, travel, try to inseminate, do drugs, alcohol, weed, etc.

She was different. She talked to me different. She touched me different. She is a beautiful lady. Special person. But little did I know, she had dark demons. Was either abused as a kid or molested as a kid or both. She touched on it briefly and her borderline personality.

    No puedo ayudarle.
I couldn't help her. You can’t help them. You can’t fix them. You can only try. Sometimes it becomes a lost cause. Because things are already done.

Now as I navigate this middle-class area and downtown, as well as the escorts, strippers, and looking for the replacement of emotions I used to feel with her, I realize one thing. She was genuine. And each person is different.
And there’s no going back. You can’t go back. Too much has already been said. Too much has occurred. Things are never the same as when you first meet them.

    Roses go bad. Roses die.
    I still love her too.
I think about her every day.

    One day at a time.

Got to get up and try, que no?
