Dirk Wears White Sox

Adam & The Ants

Songfacts®:  You can leave comments about the song at the bottom of the page.

"Dirk Wears White Sox" was written by Adam Ant and was apparently rush released as a single, so did not appear on the album of the same title, which was released on November 30, 1979.

To the uninitiated, the song itself will have little or nothing to do with Dirk, however he is dressed, but Dirk Bogarde (1921-99) was a massive box office star in his day. In 1974, he starred in the film Il Portiere Di Notte (in English The Night Porter). Like "Deutscher Girls", this song seems to have been inspired by that film. Ant is a great Bogarde fan. (thanks, Alexander Baron - London, England)
