The first single from Ace Hood's fourth studio album Trials & Tribulations features a guest verse from fellow American rapper Rick Ross, whilst Future croons the hook. The song was released as a single on January 16, 2013.
Mike WiLL Made It supplied the beat. The Atlanta-born producer's other credits include G.O.O.D. Music's "Mercy", Lil Wayne's "Love Me" and Rihanna's "Pour It Up".
Future brags on the hook that he "woke up in a new Bugatti." Bugattis are high-performance automobiles that are well known for their design beauty. The Super Sport version of the Bugaati Veyron is the fastest street-legal production car in the world, with a top speed of 267.856 mph and a base price of $1,700,000. Ace Hood admitted in a video interview that he doesn't actually own a Bugatti, but the line "woke up in a new Bugatti." means he's waking up with success.
Ace Hood explained the song's origins to Artist Direct: "The record just came together one day when I was working in the studio," he said. "We were in the studio, and we actually put our creative juices together to make the record. That's what 'Bugatti' was. I walked in, and Future was mimicking the hook over and over. I thought, 'This is going to be crazy.' He laid it down, and we were all like, 'Man, this could be extremely big.' I ended up laying down my verses a week later. I'm not going to lie. I killed it."
Ace explained the song's meaning to Artist Direct: "I had whole concept for creating this record," he said. "Being where I'm from and making it out of there to success is what I consider, 'Waking up in a new Bugatti.' For people who don't necessarily have Bugattis, it's not necessarily about you being in a Bugatti. One day, I'm in the projects. The next day, I'm waking up in a 1.2 million dollar car. That's how being in the music industry and having success is. You can be down this day, but you can wake up with success. It all works in your favor. That's what I got out of it. It's about motivating the people to understand you can really do what you want to do. I never thought I'd be waking up in a 1.2 million dollar car but God works in mysterious ways. When you hear it, you get amped and motivated. That's the message I wanted to send out in this record."
