Songfacts®:

  • Jon and Roy are a Canadian trio whose songs have been featured in Volkswagen and Scotiabank commercials and have appeared on CBC, MTV, and HBO. On this track, there are several references to dreams about tidal waves coming up from the sea. When we spoke with Jon Middleton of Jon and Roy, he said that he wrote the song right after the 2004 tsunami in Indonesia, which inspired the dream he sings about. Said Jon: The song is about a fear of something bad happening and that kind of helpless feeling of where would we go from here? It's not like I have this intense fear about something like this, but I think imagining it from someone's perspective who's been through it, I could see how that would be like something that would come up, like, Where are we going to go from here? It's about more the fear before something like this happens, and what's going to happen after something like that happens."
