Songfacts®:

  • "The professional insurance man can handle any type of plan..."

"My Insurance Man" is not a your usual love song but is another of those industrial songs, like "Sand." This one is from the Continental Assurance Company's 1968 Key Club, which was a trade show where they put on a stage musical with songs like "What Makes a Professional" and "Taxes and Money."

Remarkably, a soundtrack album was released with these songs. The point was to motivate and refine the company's insurance salesmen. As the liner notes explain: "To be called 'my insurance man' by clients is the goal of every producer - and is the mark of a professional."

The song was performed in the show by Beverly Lacek, and was written by Arnold Midlash and Robert WeDyck. >>
