Songfacts®:

  • Not to be confused with any other song of the same name, including the instrumental by drummer Cozy Powell, this number from Act Two of the 2000 musical The Witches Of Eastwick is an invitation to literally dance with the Devil. The recording by the original London cast runs to 5 minutes 55 seconds and like the rest of the soundtrack has lyrics by John Dempsey and music by Dana P. Rowe. The song begins with Darryl instructing the men of the town in the art of seduction. The message is that there is a devil inside us all. The men join in then the women as the song develops logically into a dance routine.

In the 2008 UK tour version, the song is reprised after "The Wedding." >>
