Songfacts®:

  • While many of his songs on the From Here To Now To You were written about Johnson's wife, Kim, there is also one song for each of his three children. The oldest boy has the cut "Tape Deck," which reflects his son's emerging enthusiasm for the guitar. "Radiate," meanwhile, is for his middle child, whilst this quirky ode to parenthood, which equates children with clones, was penned for his daughter.
  • Johnson spoke with Chicago station WXRT's Marty Lennartz regarding his songwriting process for From Here to Now to You. "I go for months without writing, and then I'll write a bunch of songs in a few weeks sometimes," he explained. "Once I have enough songs around, that's usually when we kind of make a few phone calls and say let's try to do one of these again."
