Songfacts®:

  • Barb Jungr was born at Rochdale, Lancashire, less than 20 miles as the crow flies from Stockport, England where her scientist father was employed and where she attended a convent school. In this uptempo Jazz number, she imagines a musical journey to Memphis, where much of the American Soul music she grew up listening to originated. She had never been to Memphis when she recorded the song, but had left Stockport to travel the world as a musician. >>
