Songfacts®:

  • The title track of Cheryl's Only Human album, the song was written by Stooshe's writer and manager Jo Perry and songwriter Cass Lowe (Shane Filan's "Knee Deep In My Heart").

Production credits go to Israeli-born Matt Schwartz who achieved two UK Top 10 singles in 2004 as one half of the electronic music duo Deepest Blue. He has gone on to work with a number of artists including Kylie Minogue "(Timebomb") and Lawson ("Love Locked Out").
  • Cheryl explained she titled the album after this song as it sums up how she feels. "Looking back on everything that I've experienced personally, I think Only Human is a record that says, 'Have fun, we're only human, fight on when things go bad, 'cos it's going to be fine again,'" the songstress said. "I'm proof of that and for people who have seen things I might have been through, they will know how much this means to me."
  • Cheryl Fernandez-Versini explained to The Daily Telegraph that the ballad is about, "going back to basics, and saying, 'Look, we're only human, we're only dust. That's all we are made from.'"
