Album: Monuments To An Elegy (2014)
Play Video

Songfacts®:

  • Mötley Crüe founding member Tommy Lee played drums on all nine of Monuments to an Elegy's tracks. Asked by Uncut magazine about the stickman's involvement, Billy Corgan replied. "I've known Tommy since 1992, didn't know him real well, but enough to call him up. He was like, 'the Pumpkins drumming style is a lot busier than I play.' But he heard it in demo form and said, 'I wanna play on all of them.'"

"You can hear on tracks like 'Run2me' where he did a lot of drum programming – he took real investment in the material."
  • The video was directed by long-term Billy Corgan collaborator Linda Strawberry. Speaking to Vulture.com about the clip, Strawberry explained that the song — full of longing — made her think of the 'Magician' tarot card, which represents the alchemy of fear within a relationship. "The girl in the video is both enlightened and trapped by this theme," she said. "The Magician is symbolic of transition and inspiration, while the protagonist in the video is afraid of who she is about to become, she learns, accepts and then lets go of whatever was holding her back."
