Songfacts®:

  • This song from the Seattle band Kinski was inspired by an incident in Austin when the band were in town for the SXSW festival. Kinski guitarist Chris Martin brought his girlfriend Karri along, and on the last night of the festival, the band played on a bill with Hawkwind at a roadhouse-type bar off the main drag. This place had arm wrestling tables and a mechanical bull, which tend to get some use after a few drinks.

Once some beers were consumed, Karri and Kinski bass player Lucy Atkinson decided to arm wrestle. Lucy one decisively, prompting Karri to say, "I fell like a f--king flower." This gave Martin the idea for the title.
