Songfacts®:

  • Running to around 4 minutes 49 seconds, this uptempo Blackmore/Night composition could be about any two people in love, but there are clues in it that indicate it is about their own relationship, and written specifically from her viewpoint:

There were some calling me crazy
I've been accused of being naive

Ritchie Blackmore may have been one of the greatest guitarists in rock history, but when Candice met him he had been married and divorced three times. He was also 26 years her senior, and her parents were very likely horrified, but by the time this song was recorded, they had already been together 14 years; three years later they finally married, and she presented him with a daughter - the Strawberry Girl - then a son. This was clearly a marriage made in Heaven.
  • "I'll Be There (Just Call My Name)" was released September 5, 2005 as a CD single in Germany only backed by "Olde Mill Inn," and the following April appeared on The Village Lanterne. >>
