Songfacts®:

  • This song finds Dre and local Los Angeles artist Anderson Paak trading stories about their continual grind.
  • Paak performed on six songs in total on Compton. He told NME how he hooked up with the hip-hop legend. "I got invited to work on Dre's Compton project," he explained. "Dre was giving out ideas for what he wanted the vibe of [album track] 'All In A Day's Work' to be. I asked if I could get on the mic and started riffing off the top of my head. When I opened my eyes, everyone in the room was just like 'Wooooh, yeah!' And, after that, I was always over there."
  • Jimmy Iovine supplies the introduction in which he states you need to work hard and persevere in order to be successful in life. Iovine is the co-founder & former CEO of Interscope Records. In 2006, he teamed with Dr. Dre to found Beats Electronics, and when Apple bought out Beats in May 2014, Iovine was hired to become a leader of the Apple Music campaign.
