Songfacts®:

  • Despite its title, this song has little to do with the rapper and hip-hop producer Dr. Dre. Bassist Jamie Lee Lindberg explained to Q magazine: "It was just used as a frame of reference, so we know what we are talking about when we are writing. Often times, the title of the song won't have anything to do with what the song actually means."
  • The song was Warpaint's second one to be titled after a rapper. Their 2014 self-titled album included a track named "Biggy," a reference to the Notorious B.I.G.
