Songfacts®:

  • This is the title track of Tove Lo's second album. The song and album is a slang term for female arousal, but represents a call to arms. "It's about being brave and doing the things that terrify you," the Swede told the BBC. "It's my way of saying there are a lot of chicks with balls out there."
  • The title is typical of Tove Lo's frank attitude toward sexuality and feminism. "You know how when you're talking about someone's strength you might say, 'She's a chick with balls?'" she explained to Billboard magazine. "Or if someone's a coward, you might call them a pussy? That never sat right with me. Lady Wood is just a better word than 'balls.'"
