Dragula

"Dig through the ditches" is a reference to ditch-digging which was a common forced-labor punishment for prisoners on a chain-gang. It was also a practice for dictatorships to force captives to dig ditches for use as their own mass grave before being executed. Combine this with "burn through the witches" and he is obviously referring to false imprisonment, conviction, and execution. I think he just wrote it because it sounded good. Also, the phrase "conquering the worm" is widely understood to mean finishing off an authentic high-grade bottle of tequila which has a worm at the bottom, but can also be an allusion to Lair of the White Worm, a novel by Bram Stoker (author of Dracula) that was also made into a film.

I agree with the statement about the Salem Witch Trials. t does say "dig through the ditches and burn through the witches" along with "Devil on your back, I can never die" Where the people thought to be witches were constantly searched for the "devil's mark" which was commonly "found" on the back or the breast.

I think the "burn through the witches, dig through the ditches" part may be a reference to the Salem Witch trials..

The name of the family car on the Munsters was "the Koach". "Dragula" was the name of Grandpa Munster's coffin car made like a drag racing car. The Koach was actually made from 3 Model T bodies and was made to look like the old Touring Cars of that era. The video is misleading in the fact it shows Rob riding in the Koach while singing about Dragula, but Dragula really was the coffin hot rod Grandpa drove.

Good song. Not sure what he meant by "Burn thru the witches slam thru the ditchs" but maybe that is to be left up to the listener.

The car ..Dragula ..was atually a car built for Grandpa on the Munsters by..George Barris...The car used in the Dragula Video is ..The Munsters koach..also built by..George Barris ...P.S....Barris let Rob Zombie barrow the car for the video shoot.
