Songfacts®:

  • AC/DC released "Whole Lotta Rosie" in 1977, the same year Keep The Dogs Away was released in Canada, so it would be tempting to suggest the penultimate track on this album was influenced by it, or vice versa. Both songs talk about physically big and powerful women. That though is where the similarity ends. And there is certainly no connection between this song and the other 1977 "Rosie" by Jackson Browne.

Bon Scott's Rosie was a real woman; the subject of this vastly inferior song is almost certainly imaginary. Tempting as it would be to suggest she might be an old girlfriend of frontman Jon Mikl Thor, "Rosie" wasn't written by him but by Willi Morrison. >>
