Songfacts®:

  • Running to a mere 1 minute 50 seconds, this Chuck Berry composition might be described as a novelty song about a race between a Jaguar and a Ford Thunderbird. Although fast cars are a staple of many rock 'n' roll songs, Berry was not writing simply for effect as is clear from both his 1955 song "No Money Down" and his autobiography.
  • "Jaguar And Thunderbird" was released in 1960 backed by "Our Little Rendezvous"; it was covered by The Troggs and has also been recorded by Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. >>
