  • For four months Haim tried writing songs for their sophomore album without success. Their breakthrough came when the band were given a "homework assignment" - writing a song for the Amy Schumer movie Trainwreck. That allowed them to escape the pressure of following up their debut record, "Suddenly, there wasn't this daunting, abstract, second-record weight hanging over us," keyboardist Alana Haim recalled to Rolling Stone. "It was, 'You have a week.'"

The sisters came up with this retro pop rock pastiche and even though the Trainwreck people didn't go for it, Haim loved the tune so much, they decided to keep it for themselves. "We got back to just 'write how you're feeling,'" Alana said. "After that, we wrote hundreds of songs. It was like vomit."
  • Lead vocalist Danielle Haim told the BBC how she and her sisters set out to write a bright and bouncy tune for the Trainwreck movie: "We wanted to write a simple song with a I-IV-V chord progression," she said. "I remember hearing these songs that came out in the early '80s that kind of had a Motown vibe but with '80s production. And I thought, 'Oh, I wonder what these songs would sound like now?'"
  • Haim debuted the song live at The Observatory in Santa Ana on May 17, 2016.
  • Danielle Haim explained the song's background to Pitchfork:

"We were obsessed with this idea that, throughout every decade, there'd be songs that we love that hearken back to that '50s rock vibe: the one-four-five, piano eighth notes—the [miming playing a keyboard] dink-dink-dink-dink-dink-dink-dink-dink! Whether it was Tom Petty in the late '70s or the Clash in the early '80s, or even like, OutKast's 'Hey Ya' - they all hearkened back to this '50s doo-wop thing. So we wondered: What does it sound like in 2017?"
  • The song's music video sees the Haim sisters line dancing in Los Angeles bar Oil Can Harry's. The clip was directed by There Will Be Blood filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson, whose previous collaborations with the trio include the visual for "Right Now" and the band's short film called Valentine.

During the video Danielle Haim dons a Stevie Nicks T-shirt.
