Songfacts®:

  • This song is about Dr. David Gunn, an abortion doctor who was killed by Pro-Life Activists. Manson thought that it was both hypocritical and ironic that Pro-LIFE activists would kill someone.
  • Some lyric analysis:
    "Pseudo morals work real well
On the talk shows for the weak
    Selective judgment, good guy badges
    Don't mean a f--k to me."
This part of the song is about hypocritical activists who blame the wrong people because they don't share the same beliefs.Manson is referring to himself when he says good guy badges don't mean a f--k to me. He might also be referring to what Gunn thought about the activists and what he thought about how they felt about him. Basically those lyrics are saying that nobody's a saint, no matter how devoted they are to doing what they thought was right.

Article: yes, it is sadly true that some boy named Mike Barnhart used

to kick my ass when I was in junior high.

    It's a shame I didn't have a gun.

Fortunately I grew up to be something else.

Not better, just different. I hold no grudges.

I hope your trailer is warm Mike. It gets cold in those parks this time of

    year.

Love, the third and final beast

Marilyn Manson [and clarified with this so that the jr high kids didn't go get their guns and put holes in the Mike Barnharts of their little worlds:]

  • Jezus from Mobile, AlMe again people. In the part that he sings "Goddamn (oh, Lord)", it sounds like he`s singing "GD, who? the lord".
  • Jezus from Mobile, AlJohn, the man who says "stand back, this could hurt someone..." is Budd himself. I`ve watched the video of his suicide, it`s actually quite funny... He gives out three envelopes and then he picks up a milano envelope (big yellow kind), and he pulls out a .357 Magnum and starts talkin sayin "when I, when I..." Other people say, "Budd, don`t do it!" Then he puts the gunn in his mouth (not even all the way) and pulls the trigger. His brain doesn`t "shoot out" of the back of his skull, but he does have a big ass hole on the top and his nose is just a waterfall of blood. I found this vid by going to wikipedia and searching for get you gunn. I seen that it said that in the bridge of the song (that weird guitar) that it plays BD`s suicide conference and i watched the video and listened to the song and I actually noticed it after listening to the song like 80,000 times. Wikipedia link: search "budd dwyer" and in the external links you can see the "video of budd dwyer`s suicide" and it will take you to Liveleak.com. The first couple of times i heard this song, i thought he was sayin "shoot all mongrels everywhere. and know that torture`s for the weak." I guess it proves how much of a dumbass i am.
  • Struggle from Tulsa, OkPsudeo-morals, talk-shows, selective judgements and good-guy badges are all topics discussed in Anton LaVey's book "The Devil's Notebook"

Manson is mearly providing a soundtrack to go with the book.
  • Jake from Elkview, WvI think that the Pro~life people are the biggest hipicrits, they are supposed to be FOR life yet they take another one...wtf~...That is worse than a murderer being found innocent...I bet that they didnt get in trouble for it either....
  • Charles from Big Rock, TnThis song is cool. I love singing it while I walk almost like a theme song. There are about three things in this world helping me keep my sanity.1.MY parents 2.My friends Sebastion C. Matt P. Nico B. Kieth L. Jeff M. Chris G. And 3. Mr. Warner's music. But my Mom is dead, my Dad is very buisy, and I Was kicked out of school for making a threat and havent seen or even heard from my friends in months. So music is pretty much all I've got.
  • Emma from White Rock, CanadaI don't understand why he says "the pro-life I will kill" in a song about an abortion doctor. Could someone offer some lyrical analysis>
  • Shay from Davis, CaThat's weird I always thought the husband was abusing his wife or something. But I love it how there are all these hidden voices and things in his music, this song especially.
  • Elyssa from Goliad, TxI think this song has a cool meaning, just like all of his songs, oh and Tanya, he can put whatever sounds he wants in his video, and if it gives him hard-ons, then its not your problem, hes probably not even the only one who gets horny hearing the noises...hehe...
  • Shawn from Lansing, MiThis song samples "The Pusher" by Steppenwolf. From the line "GOD D*MN....the pusher". You can hear it in the chorus "Pseudo morals work real well on the talk shows for the week....selective judgement...". It can be heard very clearly on the remixed version on the CD single (called "Mother Inferior Got Her Gunn").
  • Tanya from Rotterdam, NetherlandsAnd why did he put those sounds in this song? Is there a meaning, or do video's like that give Brian a hard-on?
  • John from Beaufort, ScJust after Manson sings "Want me to save the world? I'm just a little girl.." you can hear some people talking. The sound you hear is from a video clip where politician Budd Dwyer shoots himself in the head at a conference in Pennsylvania. You can hear a woman say "don't do it!" and a man says "stand back, this could hurt someone!" then the bang of the gun.

If you don't believe me, look up the video clip and listen. You can also find this clip on "Traces of Death 1."
