This song is about Neil Young's close relationship with his guitar. Young has an old guitar which was once used by Hank Williams, who was a big influence on Neil. In Young's 2006 movie Heart Of Gold, in Nashville Tennessee he talks about how the guitar finally returns to the spot where Hank Williams once played it. Young's friend found the guitar some 30 years ago and Neil has had it since. (thanks, david - Oakville, Canada)
Comments:
I heared that this soung was written about a guitar of Willie Nelson's that Neil young always liked and ended up buying from him. not 100% though. Fav line has to be "When i get drunk, and seein' double, it jumps behind the wheel and steers" haha. for and guitar players out there, the main part is D, Dsus and D with pinky on the first string on the 4th fret.(i forget what thats called) and the only other part is a G then goes back to Dsus then D. Repeat. Enjoy.

I'm glad I got too find out the story. Some of Neil Young's songs havve a country music feel. There's one in particular that sounds like a Hank Williams song. The Neil Young song is "Comes a Time" and the Hank Williams song that sounds similar to it is the one that starts "Good-bye Joe. Me gotta go, meo myo..." The name of the song escapes me at the moment.
