Songfacts®:

  • Vocalist Tim McIlrath has said that this is a song about sacrifice. It depicts a man who is in a relationship where he comes to the painful realization that his feelings are unrequited, as his significant other is unsure of how she feels anymore. To provide himself with a sense of closure, he sacrifices the relationship and leaves her before his heart is broken again. >>
