  • Franklin wrote this with Teddy White, who was her husband and manager. In the song, Aretha sings about freedom and respect for women.
  • Jerry Wexler, who worked with Franklin on many of her hit songs, produced this track at the Atlantic Records recording studios in New York. Members of the Muscle Shoals rhythm section played at the session.
  • Franklin performed this in the 1980 movie The Blues Brothers starring Dan Ackroyd and John Belushi. The Blues Brothers themselves also recorded the song, which was released as the B-side of their 1989 UK single "Everybody Needs Somebody To Love." >>

On May 12th 1968, "Think" by Aretha Franklin entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart at position #67; four weeks later on June 9th, 1968 it peaked at #7 {for 2 weeks} and spent 10 weeks on the Top 100...
And on the same day it peaked at #7 on the Top 100 it would reach #1* {for 3 weeks} on Billboard's R&B Singles chart...
The record's B-side, "You Send Me", would also make both charts; #28 on the R&B Singles chart and #56 on the Top 100 chart...
* During the calendar year of 1968 Ms. Franklin had three #1 records on the R&B Singles chart, the other two were "Chain of Fools" for 4 weeks and "(Sweet Sweet Baby) Since You've Been Gone" for 3 weeks.
