Biggest Part Of Me by Ambrosia

Album: One EightyReleased: 1980Charted:
3
  • This Soft Rock hit is about a guy whose woman is the center of his life. (thanks, Mike - Santa Barbara, CA)
  • The album title tells the story: Ambrosia decided to head towards mainstream Pop music, creating some of the most memorable "yacht rock" songs ever made. David Pack, Joe Puerta, Burleigh Drummond and Christopher North had success prior to the release of One Eighty, but this was their breakout album that cemented them as '70s icons. In the late '70s and early '80s, there was a strong market for syrupy ballads. What better way is there then with a song where the singer is practically telling his love that he is incomplete without her and doing whatever he can to make her happy while losing his spine in the process? One Eighty produced another smash-hit, "You're the Only Woman," which surpasses the high-cheesiness standard that "Biggest Part of Me" set for the band. (thanks, Johnny - Brooklyn, NY)

On June 27th 1980, Ambrosia performed "Biggest Part of Me" on the NBC-TV program 'The Midnight Special', plus the quartet was the show's hosts...
Three months earlier on March 30th, 1980 it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart at position #60; and on June 1st, 1980 it peaked at #3 (for 3 weeks) and spent 19 weeks on the Top 100 (and for 8 of those 19 weeks it was on the Top 10)...
It also reached #3 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary Tracks chart...
For the 3 weeks it was at #3, the #1 record was "Funky Town" by Lipps, Inc. and the #2 record was "Coming Up (Live)" by Paul McCartney & Wings...
The group's record that preceded it on the Top 100, "How Much I Feel", also peaked at #3 (and also for 3 weeks) but stayed on the chart for 21 weeks.
