  • It's another tequila sunrise
    Starin' slowly 'cross the sky
    Said goodbye
He was just a hired hand
Workin' on the dreams he planned to try
    The days go by

Ev'ry night when the sun goes down
Just another lonely boy in town
    And she's out runnin' 'round

    She wasn't just another woman
And I couldn't keep from comin' on
    It's been so long
Oh and it's a hollow feelin'
When it comes down to dealin' friends
    It never ends

    Take another shot of courage
Wonder why the right words never come
    You just get numb
    It's another tequila sunrise
This old world still looks the same

  • Diceofdeath from Columbus, GaI always thought this song was a made-up, Wild West story, until I figured out it must be biographical. The line that gave it away was: "He was just a hired hand, working on the dreams he planned to try." Both Frey and Henley were playing in Linda Ronstadt's backing band when they formed Eagles, so they were in fact both hired hands, working on fulfilling their shared dream of forming a successful band.
  • Rich from Oakland, CaI agree that it is about a guy drowning his guilt over coming on to his friend’s girl, even though she was cheating with other guys(gals?) too. Beautiful, wistful song by Fry & Henley.
  • Gerry Dawes from New YorkWhy wasn't the song Tequila Sunrise used in the movie Tequila Sunrise?
  • Jennifur Sun from RamonaHave read this was Glenns fav song. loved the guitars they used on the song, so soft and pretty sounding.
  • Dan from Victoria, BcI was 19 and I bought a motorcycle in Winnipeg. I had $100 paid off on my motorcycle, and a lady went through a red light and hit me. I was the third best wrestler in my province. I though "why did this happen to me" but I learned to get over it. I don't think about the past anymore, I only think about the future. This song is my mantra: you can't change the past. you have to get over it and make a new life. I still love going to rock concerts and beer parlours for hockey games. I like being around people. Antoher song I like is Roxy Roller by Sweeny Todd (Nick Gelder).
  • Camille from Toronto, OhMy take on the lyrics is a bit different. The song starts out talking about "him" and "her" then switches to "I"(the singer). Seems to me, the two guys were friends, and the singer hooked up with his friend's woman. The friend didn't know that woman was out running around. Both guys were out of the girl's league, she played them both and had no heartache about it. The guys lost their friendship over a woman like that. The singer realizes the fling he had was worth losing the friendship over: "she wasn't just another woman". Still, it caused his former friend pain, so he's drinking tequila till the sun comes up to try to drown the guilt. He's been disillusioned before, because this is "another" tequila sunrise.
  • Mayank from Ranchi, IndiaBeautiful song, one of the best country songs there is. Its the most authentic country music you'll ever get to hear.
  • Kathleen from Hull, MaHeard that this song was written while on a college tour at Bethany College in WV. The story goes that they were sitting outside their room at the Gresham Inn watching the sun come up drinking tequila.....
  • Liz from Smallville, KsThis song is a good song. It relaxes me.
  • Daddy Cool from Atlanta, GaIt ain't about the booze guys. it's about mistakes we have made, all of us, especially we men with our ladies, and perhaps more importantly, our friends.
".. oh, and it's a hollow feeling....", think about it, it truly does never end.
  • Josh from Magnolia, ArIt's a beautiful song with sad memories that often remind me of a jaded person I once was a long time ago. The melodies still haunt me every now and then.
  • David from Deerfield Beach, FlPosted on 11/5/2007. To me The Eagles are masters at conjuring up imagery of the southwestern U.S. through their music. One time I took a trip out to Tucson, AZ and I made it a point to bring along my Eagles music. Driving around the Arizona desert listening to them was a perfect fit! The perfect soundtrack for that trip. With its slight Mexican flavor, "Tequila Sunrise" in particular epitomizes that southwest U.S. feel for me.
  • Robert from Torrance, CaAbout the additional ""Think I'll go to Mexico.." lyrics: I have a distint recollection of seeing the Eagles on TV (maybe the show "In Concert" on ABC Friday nights) where they did the song with those lyrics.
  • Jim from Somewhere, PaThis is one of the first two songs Hennely and Frey wrote together. The other being "Desperado". According to Frey they were both written the same night.
  • Don from Phoenix, AzAlan Jackson imported the "shot of courage" line into his "I Don't Even know Your Name," in which the character musters up the nerve to talk to the beautiful waitress: "So I ordered straight tequila, a little courage in a shot."
  • Dick from Arcata, CaI heard a bootleg Eagles album that contained a version of this song with additional lyrics:

    "Think I'll go to Mexico
Down to where the pace is nice and slow
And there's no one there I know

    It's another tequila sunrise,
    Wonderin' if I'm growin' wise
    Or tellin' lies ..."
  • Meagan from Baton Rouge, Laabsolutly love this song and its way up there with desperado and the sad cafe. beautiful song and i can never get tired of it. i may only be 15 but i consider this a classic which alot of people would agree. i can listen to this song over and over its just so amazing how much talent the eagles have. lynyrd skynyrd is like the eagles in that they have beautiful songs and great talent and i could never turn them down. I LOVE YOU BATON ROUGE, GOOD NIGHT!
  • Mr. Fugu from Springfield, United StatesThis was MY drinking song in my youth! God, I love the Eagles.
  • Shell from Riverdale, GaYes, I drank tequila last night. How do I know? The ripped out knees of my jeans and the toilet-bowl-shaped bruise on my forehead, that's how!
  • Steve from Chino Hills, CaOh, come on, as a guy you have to relate to this song. At some point you've made a move on a woman that was clearly out of your leage. When you get shot down to the "Let's just be friends" level a few shots of Tequila does the trick.
