  • Notice me
    Take my hand
    Why are we
    Strangers when
    Our love is strong?
    Why carry on without me?

And every time I try to fly I fall without my wings
    I feel so small
I guess I need you baby
And every time I see you in my dreams
    I see your face
    It's haunting me
I guess I need you baby

    I make-believe
    That you are here
    It's the only way
    That I see clear
    What have I done?
You seem to move on easy

And every time I try to fly I fall without my wings
    I feel so small
I guess I need you baby
And every time I see you in my dreams
    I see your face
    You're haunting me
I guess I need you baby

I may have made it rain
    Please forgive me
    My weakness caused you pain
    And this song's my sorry

    At night I pray
That soon your face will fade away

And every time I try to fly I fall without my wings
    I feel so small
I guess I need you baby
And every time I see you in my dreams
    I see your face
    You're haunting me
I guess I need you baby Writer/s: Annette Stamatelatos, Britney Spears

  • Arman Froster from London, UkMy favorite song of all time, from my favorite artist too.
  • Jane from Ny, NyBeautiful, heartfelt song. You can love someone with ALL your heart & soul & still make a stupid, forever regrettable mistake, especially if there's alcohol involved. I can attest to that. Brit & Justin were first loves. No one can ever take that away from them. There's NOTHING that compares. When you're young & inexperienced, it's quite common & easy to make mistakes. The fact that he could never forgive her (at the time), shows how much it hurt him & how much he loved her. It's very rare that first loves last anyway & everyone is human. I admire how they were able to creatively write each other songs to communicate how they were feeling. I wonder what it was like for them both to hear each other's songs/videos.. Must've been intense. Replay button must've been worn out. I think most people can relate to heartbreak, only theirs was out there for everyone to see, judge & comment on. Oh well...just memories now. He's married & she's out there dating. I wish them both well..
  • Trmw from Toronto, OnI think in the real world that was more realistic than celebs who are so tempted by money, people who love each other and make bad choices like that want to forgive each other for cheating. What doesn't make sense to me is that in this response of the song britney giving to justin, why would justin timberlake resist her sorry if he really cared for her? He dated random people after their serious relationships with really known celebs and it's okay that he was allowed to be this way to her? I think they never had a solid relationship, because there seemed to be lack of communication between them or attention needed that wasn't given. They are rich celebs in a evil world that tempt. There should still be some help, grace and understanding. Justin Timberlake should have gave her time to say sorry and work through her wrongs as a real couple...
  • Samy from Millstadt, Il41 seconds in on the video it shows the camera hitting her
  • Samy from Millstadt, Iland she didnt "kill herself" she had blood on her head, if you notice when she was walking in the building she got smacked in the head with a camera. when she got in the tub, she noticed and probably had a concussion, passed out, and drowned. thats what they went for i think. but ya, def about being reborn, obviously with her dying and then the baby in the video. she got another chance at life.
  • Samy from Millstadt, Ilbeing reborn.
  • Zach from Idaho Falls, Idhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ERrWEYnS9Nw

This song has to be one of my favorites, the emotion and depth that is felt in this song is just unreal. Krysta Serr covers this song really beautifully and her professional talent fits this style of song perfectly!
  • Theresa from Murfreesboro, TnI love the song but hated the video, it just didn't fit. Probably Britney's best ballad.
  • Jeana from Sterling Heights, Mithe song and the video is actually speaking to me right now at the momemnt

and Tiana thats just a dream and she didn't try to kill herself
  • Ava from Eagan, MnUm, too bad reincarnation isn't real...good try though, Britney.
  • Inaz from Buton, InI just can say; its the best!!!
    Congratulation Britney. . .
  • Shannon from Lynbrook, NyThis is the OTHER version of the video, it's pretty simple: She accidently overdoses on drugs and when she goes in the bathtub she drowns, but then she finds it's a dream! YAY!
  • Tania from Horeshead, Nyi think this song is really beautiful. its not trashy and slutty. It was a very nicely done song and the so was the music video. i dont thaink she killed herself. she just passed out from getting hit on the back of her head. She then was reincarnated to that baby girl and years later she was finally happy.
  • Charles A from New York, NyBritney cheated on Justin with someone he knew, and that spawned the song and video "Cry Me A River" (and also another Justin song that escapes me right now). This song by Britney is her apology to Justin for hurting him...
  • Maddie from Kitchener, CanadaActually BRITNEY did perform this song on her Onyx tour this year. She was awesome and i think ppl underestimate her vocal abilities. if you want to check the video out go to www.ubritney.com and on the right hand side u can download and view it. :) You'll be surprised.
  • Faith from Abilene, TxI heard the original idea for the video was supposed to be a suicide by slitting her wrists in the bathtub, but then I'm definitely not a Britney insider and couldn't confirm or deny that truth. It's a simple song lyrically, very much so, but one of the few songs she has that I truly liked. Simple as it is, it's simply moving. I really couldn't see her performing this live, though. No offense to Britney's fans, but it would've flourished under someone with the ability to vocally move and slide better than she can. Even in the recording, it sounded like she almost had trouble with that high note near to the end on the 'this song's my sorry' part. I'll give her credit for writing it and putting some grown-up emotion into it, for sure, though.
  • Lauren from Lincoln, EnglandYes, but u know when you say about the new baby girl in the video, I have never seen this one, I have seen te lady giving birth to a baby, but is this the scene which you're referring to as the reincarnated new britney?
  • Erik from Monterrey, MexicoIrene, Britney AND that girl wrote the song, they co-wrote it, but I guess Britney wrote most of it, since she said, it was the first song she had ever written, even though she had co-written other songs before
  • Irene from Thessaloniki, Greecesorry but the song Everytime was not written by Britney but from her friend annette artani her site is www.annetteartani.com/ to see yourselves
  • Olivia from Los Angeles, CaI like listening to Britney's "Everytime" back to back with Justin's "Never Again" Because i'm such a hopeless romantic, I would really like to see the two get back together again. The relationship seemed too public, impersonal, and unfair...it seemed the two of them were so busy they didn't have time to give to the relationship and let it blossom...maybe i'm just hoping they'll realize that fact and, since they're both pretty well off, try again, take some time off to get to know each other again...oh and of course leave the current people they're with. How come no one's ever said anything about Britney's "Shadow" song? I think that's definitely another Justin song...I wonder if they've heard each other's songs and understood....
  • Chester from Lincolnshire, EnglandBefore writing any of the lyrics to 'Everytime', Britney first sat down at a piano and wrote the piano music to set the theme. She did this in a hotel in Germany (she was attending the premiere of her debut movie, Crossroads), just weeks after admitting that she and Justin Timberlake had officially split.
The achingly understated lyrics match the simple piano riff perfectly....
  • Chester from Lincolnshire, EnglandThis video was the most interesting Britney video to date. It's like a movie, and Britney proved that you don't need crude lyrics and an outrageously sexy video to shock people. This video captured the attention of the entire world! People didn't expect an intelligent, heart-breaking story of reincarnation and religious beliefs from a Britney Spears video. They expected breathtaking dance moves, skimpy crop-tops and low-riding jeans! They expected to see a wild party, not a thought-provoking personal story that tugs on the heart strings... It was a very brave move for Britney, and since 'Everytime' was a global #1 for Britney, clearly it paid off.
  • Chester from Lincolnshire, EnglandTHE VIDEO: Britney and her boyfriend are travelling in the limo to the Las Vagas hotel where they are going to stay. Britney tries to get his attention in the car but he's stressed and there's clearly alot of tension between them already.

As they get out they're swamped by the paparazzi. Britney battles her way through with her body guards, almost losing her balance and screaming out in pain at one point (it seems as though some of the photographers are trying to tear her hat from her head to get better pictures as she's covering her face... in the struggle her head gets hit by a camera, but you have to be quick to notice it), whilst her boyfriend looses his temper and lashes out at the photographers, hurling magazines (significantly, with Britney on the cover and intrusive tabloid stories about the couple) at them and fighting his way through - and the photographers capture his outburst.

As they enter the hotel, they're both still clearly shaken and Britney screams at her boyfriend for his outburst, whilst he storms about kicking boxes and knocking things over. In the hotel room, he goes to hug her to calm her down but she's still so angry with him and pushes him away. Frusterated, he lashes out again and slams a vase against the wall - and Britney has to shield her face from the shattered glass!
She goes off into the bathroom and hurls a glass of water at her reflection in the mirror. As she gets into the bath, she notices that her head is bleeding from the back (this injury could have been caused in the scuffle with photographers or by the smashed vase that narrowly missed face). As blood pours, she looses consciousness and slips under water....

Then she has an out-of-body experience and her spirit is seen running down a white corridor towards 'the light', almost like she's given up on herself and wants to release of death. She also sees doctors battling to save her life - and later sees them giving up as she dies...

However, in the same hospital, she watches over a woman who is giving birth to another baby girl.
Scenes switch back-and-forth telling the whole tragic story, as we see her boyfriend desperately trying to revive his love's lifeless body - and we see the shamelessness of the ruthless photographers and autograph hunters trying to capture Britney's dying moments as she's carried off into an ambulance.

In the end, we see the woman proudly watching over her new baby girl. Years later, we see Britney waking up in the bathtub smiling. She's been reincarnated as the baby girl and is happy. Her life is peaceful and she's happy with her new life. Although it's a tragic story, one way or another Britney lives again; and it's a happy ending that took a tragedy to get there.
I love the story and the concept. It's a very unique way of looking at things, the tragedy that ended happily as Britney's spirit is now living a life she's completely at ease with. It's a beautiful sentiment...
  • Kelly from Nt, Australiai think this song is about justin timberlake. the film clip doesnt really match the lyrics in my opinion but i think the lyrics totally match up with justin and brits break up. "....our love was strong, why carry on without me.....You seem to move on easy.." - meaning why has he moved on when they were so perfect for each other(justins going out with cameron diaz). i feel so sorry for britney and i think this song is such a nice thing to sing about..its like an apology to justin and telling him she still loves him. i think its great
  • Jessa from Brampton, On, CanadaThis isn't acutally the first song Britney has had credit for writing. Plus she is not the only writer that gets a credit on this song.
regardless, I love britney and this song is awesome. great to sing in the shower lol!
  • Mel from Nsw, AustraliaThis is actually the first song Britney ever wrote.. a few years ago. So i don't think it was intentionally written for justin, but it relates to thier relationship
  • Shawna from San Diego, CaMs. Spears tried to sing this song in her 2004 Summer concert and scratched it all up b/c it wasn't pre-recorded. Who would have known she was so bad of a singer? Hmmmm...Thank God for Mr. D.J. who had made it possible for our ears while listening to it on the radio ('cause, sorry to say, I have never bought her CDs b/c I don't have little daughters.
  • John from Atlanta, GaVocally weak Britney is overshadowed by the pretty piano on this song. Just like how musically interesting Toxic was.
  • Katie from Frostburg, MdThe idea of the video in no way relates to britney killing herself. If you watch, she gets hit in the head by a camera, she falls backwards. She reaches around and feels blood on her head (notice the puzzled look on her face) and passes out into the water.
The video, I think, is to relate us to how the media really is, first, and they would certainly not look past hittin someone in the head to get a story. Second, to show, which I agree, how her world died, and now is reborn, and the classic example of when someone dies, a new life is born. It's an absolutely beautiful story if not tried to be picked apart like most of her music. Point fingers at her for thriving off of media, but its your fingers that are pointing!
  • Rhondelle from Mission, SdGiovanni: Could be that she saw her relationship with Justin as such a big part of her that when they called it quits, it was like part of her died. So while she is apologizing for the wrong she did in the relationship, she also is admitting that she was greatly hurt, but by her being born into another baby girl, she is saying that she accepts that they both have to move on with their lives. He's done that by falling in love with Cameron Diaz, she's done that by getting engaged to Kevin Federline.
  • Giovanni from Biglerville, PaThis really is a well written song and a very nicely sung one at that. Britney has showed the world that she can perform a love ballad without the drama of a twelve-year old girl. However, the video is indirectly related to the actual meaning of the song. The song is about her apologizing to someone she once loved (thats what i get from it) so why does she have to incorporate the idea of killing herself? Britney is hotter than anyone but this video just goes to show you that she thrives off attention from the media.
  • Chester from Lincolnshire, EnglandUK chart position #1
    Ireland chart postion #1

'Everytime' is currently the 4th most played song in America right now, after 'Toxic' (which was #1).
  • Chester from Lincolnshire, EnglandThe original concept of the video was supposed to show Britney committing suicide by overdosing on sleeping pills.... but Britney wanted a postive story about reincarnation to reflect her Kabbalist beliefs - so the video shows her accidental death then shows her being reborn into the happy life of another baby girl.
  • Tanya from Dorset, EnglandThe line "And this song's my sorry" is a response to another song about Britney on Justin's album called "Never again" in which he says "All you had to do was apologize and mean it, but you didn't say you're sorry, I don't understand"
  • Jerica from Springtown, TxI was never really a fan of Britney before this album...but I love In The Zone. This song cuts really deep...I'm so proud of Britney for releasing it. She did a good job! ::claps::
  • Nikki from Nappanee, Inthe song is great, the video is controversial, but britney has always thrived on that...it got u all talking didn't it?
