  • Come over here

All you've got is this moment
    Twenty-first century's yesterday
You can care all you want
    Everybody does, yeah, that's okay

So slide over here and give me a moment
Your moves are so raw, I've got to let you know
I've got to let you know
    You're one of my kind

    I need you tonight
    'Cause I'm not sleepin'
    There's somethin' about you, girl
    That makes me sweat

How do you feel? I'm lonely
What do you think? Can't think at all
What you gonna do? Gonna live my life

So slide over here and give me a moment
Your moves are so raw, I've got to let you know
I've got to let you know
    You're one of my kind

    I need you tonight
    'Cause I'm not sleepin'
    There's somethin' about you, girl
    That makes me sweat

So how do you feel? I'm lonely
What do you think? Can't think at all
What you gonna do? Gonna live my life
How do you feel? I'm lonely
What do you think? Can't think at all
What you gonna do? Gonna live my life

So slide over here and give me a moment
Your moves are so raw, I've got to let you know
I've got to let you know
So slide over here and give me a moment
I've got to let you know, I've got to let you know

  • Barry from Sauquoit, NyOn this day in 1987 {November 7th} INXS performed "Need You Tonight" on the ABC-TV Saturday-afternoon program, 'American Bandstand'...
At the time "Need You Tonight" was at position #54 on Billboard's Top 100 chart, twelve weeks later it would peak at #1 {for 1 week}, and it spent just under a half-year on the Top 100 {25 weeks}...
And a little over a year later on November 20th, 1988 it peaked at #2 {for 1 week} on the United Kingdom's Official Top 100 Singles chart, the week it was at #2, the #1 record for that week was "First Time" by Robin Beck...
Between 1982 and 2005 the Australian band had eighteen records on the Top 100 chart, seven made the Top 10 with one* reaching #1, the above "Need You Tonight"...
In their native Australia they charted forty two times, ten made the Top 10 with one reaching #1, "Original Sin", for two weeks in January of 1984...
    * The just missed having a second #1 record on the Top 100 when their "Devil Inside" peaked at #2 {for 2 weeks} in April of 1988...
  • P.a from Co. Spgs., CoEasily, one of the best and most underrated 80's bands. Just look at the quality /depth of their funk rock. They plus The Eurythmics, The Police , The Talking Heads and The Pretenders. WORST- REM, diss the Beatles, punks.....
  • P.a from Co. Spgs., CoJust look at the quality/ depth of the funk rock that INXS made in the 80's. Easily, one of the best 80' groups. To me along with The Eurythymics, Talking Heads, Police, and Pretenders. The last decent decade of rock.
  • Sami from Monsummano Terme, Italy@Greg, Price, UT I always had the doubt that Geldof could had something to do with Hutch's death, as he has became very powerful since Live Aid, but I never read or heard anyone accusing him for that. Can you tell me where did you read or heard the rumors you are talking about?

I love INXS and I hope to see them one day playing with Tiger Lilly.
  • Megan from Stevenson, AlLove this song!
  • Greg from Price, Ut"Need You Tonight" was the group's only No. 1 in the states (peaking in January 1988). They went to No. 2 with "Devil Inside," #3 with "New Sensation" and to number five with "What I Need" (from the "Listen Like Thieves" LP in 1986.

There was also a rumor that Bob Geldolf had something to do with Hutchence's death - allegedly being in the same hotel on the night of his "suicide." Evidently, Hutchence was romantically involved with the mother of Geldorf's children. It was pretty ugly, I'm led to understand.
  • Chris from Sevierville, Tnnoticed how the video goes from " I need you tonight" to "Mediate"?!?!?
  • Emily from Around Chicago, IlThis DOES sound like "Another One Bite The Dust"! Good song though
  • Dekota from Sydney, AustraliaMichael Hutchence was a true Aussi Legend!!! Stella song the beat draws u in!!!
  • Matt from Boston, MaVH1's "Top 100 songs of the 80's" called this song's riff- a musical interpretation of sex, sliding up and down
  • Lalah from Wasilla, Akanybody else hear a similarity in the base to Queen's "Another One Bite The Dust"?
  • Tracey from Johannesburg, South AfricaMichael, you went too early....RIP
  • Amethyst from New Haven, CtRIP michael hutchence ur the man of the 80s
