  • Is it still me that makes you sweat?
Am I who you think about in bed?
When the lights are dim and your hands are shaking
As you're sliding off your dress?
Then think of what you did
And how I hope to God he was worth it
    When the lights are dim
And your heart is racing as your fingers touch his skin

I've got more wit, a better kiss
A hotter touch, a better fuck
Than any boy you'll ever meet
    Sweetie, you had me
Girl, I was it, look past the sweat
    A better love deserving of
Exchanging body heat in the passenger seat
No, no, no, you know it will always just be me

Let's get these teen hearts beating faster, faster

So testosterone boys and harlequin girls
Will you dance to this beat
    And hold a lover close?
So testosterone boys and harlequin girls
Will you dance to this beat
    And hold a lover close?

So I guess we're back to us
    Oh, cameraman, swing the focus
In case I lost my train of thought
Where was it that we last left off? (let's pick up, pick up)

    Oh, now I do recall
We just were getting to the part
    Where the shock sets in
And the stomach acid finds a new way to make you get sick
I hope you didn't expect to get all of the attention
    Let's not get selfish
Did you really think I'd let you kill this chorus?

Let's get these teen hearts beating faster, faster

So testosterone boys and harlequin girls
Will you dance to this beat
    And hold a lover close?

  • I Have More Past Queer Labels Than Minecraft Has Blocks from Lesbian IslandAm I emo for liking panic at the disco? I'm told im emo for some reason
  • Jrm from South AfricaThis song/music video/album is apart of my being. I have been on both sides of the story. I was cheated on time and time again. I haven't technically cheated on someone, but have had connections with guys that wanted me to. This entire album, the song lyrics and the music videos for the songs are exact poetic representation of real life issues. This band gave me more advice and better understanding than anyone on earth. Ily p!atd
  • Another Killjoy Stucjk In That Mcr Era from Battery Living Ind don't you think it's weird in the music vid that none of the people are effected tht the woman just flat out oh well time to die and comitedd "scuicide"? i always thought to song was so sweet anyway
  • Stevie from Council Bluffs, Iamy favorite somg on the album
  • Liz from Hollywood/clermont , FlThis song is hot. Just sayin'. (Hehe Harley Quinn....I'm a comic book nerd. What of it?! :D)
  • Nicole from Detroit, MiLol you have to live the experience before you truly understand the meaning to this beautiful song. To me it represents a girl who was this guys whole world when suddenly "i think of what you did and I hope to god he was worth it", "testerone boys"=male sex hormone and harlequin girls=appealing/attractive/flirtive girls that are hard to resist(example=harlequin frogs bright and beautiful colors help them select mates) or "shock sets in and the stomach acid and finds a way to make you good sweat, I hope you didn't expect to get all of the attention" refers to that she got pregnant with another guy that she has been cheating on him with. The rest falls around the lines that he was better than him&her because he actually was in love with her and he didn't just have her for the sex and it hurt him bad when he found out
  • Nikki from Ny, NyWell, testosterone basically means boyish, (if someone says, "That's so testosterone!", it means that's so boyish) and in this song "boyish" means the way that boys are controlled by hormones. Harlequin means a fool. So I think that testosterone boys and harlequin girls means that the boys who are controlled by hormones and the girls that are willing to make a fool of themselves over boys like that. Hope I explained that well.
  • Vivel from Killian, LaWell, "testosterone boys" is obviously referring to how teenage boys are often ruled by their hormones--i.e. testosterone. "Harlequine girls" is a little tougher:it is defined as "a comic character in commedia dell'arte and the harlequinade, usually masked, dressed in multicolored, diamond-patterned tights, and carrying a wooden sword or magic wand." So, essentially, a joker. Probably is talking about how girls are flirts, dressing up and playing with boy's emotions, etc.
  • Monica from Mexico, Mexicocan somebody explain me what does "so testosterone boys and harlequin girls" means?
  • Nat from New York, Nythis song is directly about the movie Closer (2004). The lines, the feeling, the title.
  • Ricky from Show Low, Arthis song relates to me so good its not funny. my fiance always cheated on me with guys that she will never care about as much as me. but now im over her and i couldnt care less
  • Angela from Centereach, NyHarlequin also means Two-Faced or Two Timing. Since this song deals with cheating, it could be horny guys and Two-Faced girls.
  • Lindsay from Cumberland, Meuhm bill, this song isnt about brendon. its about ryan's girlfriend cheating on him...
  • Bill from Ny, NyBrendon made this song becuase his girlfriend Audrey Kitching cheated on him.
  • Z from Somewhere Over The Rainbow, WaMarie is right. It's so bitter. I actually took the time to look up the word harlequin in an actual dictionary, and yes it's a French clown. My friend thinks that the French are perverts, so she'd probably say that 'testosterone boys and harlequin girls' meant that horny guys were hooking up with perverted teases. But my friend is a little not right in the mind. I think it means what Randy said, "'testosterone boys' and 'harlequin girls' are basically romantic girls with horny guys."
  • Randi from Culpeper Killed Superman, VaTaylor, Stephen is sort of right but a "harlequin girl" could also mean a fake-clown like girl because harlequin were originally french clowns. The wrong part of what Stephen said is that they arent like porn theyre romantic. I think "testosterone boys" and "harlequin girls" are basically romantic girls with horny guys
  • Marie from Chicago, Ili love how bitter it is!!! i think this song is very specific and not metaphorical at all. its way too bitter for that.
  • Marie from Chicago, Iloh and on the subject of them selling out, yes they were on MTV and yes, they made a lot of money and yes, they changed, but they did not sell out. they did just the opposite. they changed so drastically and to a style our parents listened to, pretty much the anti- pop. they changed their tone, style, lyrics, music and not to gain popularity.
    plus, don't they deserve it?
  • Stephen from Non-existentvile, ArmeniaHey Taylor harlequin is a like an erotica book for girls. Pretty much like porn for them i guess.
  • Alex from Mansfield, Ohpanic at the disco needs some cheese with thier whine
  • Taylor from Kelowna, CanadaThis song is so awesome! i love panic, but what exactly is a harlequin girl? i know harlequin is a color but i dont think girls can be that color. Bit it is an awesome song!!
  • Alex from Alaska, Alpshhh this song is ballin i love the way panic! at the disco puts a messege in all of there songs but u have to think on it wich is the down side but truly amazing work they do
you can also tell its by experens that this happend ether that or the guy who wrote this is insanly awsom at puting his emotions in to the song!!!
  • Kayla from Port Orcard, WaHow can Panic have a sell out album if they've only had one album?
Sorry dan, but your analogy sucks.
First off, all songs aren't about the scene.
They said that I write sins not tradgedies is based off of Ryan's experience's with a girl cheating on him, and he made is so its like "youknow, it could be worse, she could've been cheating on me at my wedding".
  • Ashley from Copperas Cove, Txthis song was written about when ryan the lyricist for panic at the disco was cheated on! in the song he asks is it still me that makes you sweat the one you think about in bed. he also says that he was so much better then the other guy he has more witt a hotter touch a better f**k.
  • Randi from Culpeper, VaI think this song is about a girl cheating on her boyfriend, when the boyfriend breaks up with her she goes out with the other guy. But she still loves her ex "Is it still me that makes you sweat? Am I who you think about in bed?" And the ex knows he's much better than the new guy. "Girl I was it, look past the sweat, a better love deserving of
Exchanging body heat in the passenger seat?" Means the ex is saying 'look past my flaws, all that guy is to you is the guy thats there'. In the second verse he's telling he shes not important to him "So I guess we're back to us, oh cameraman, swing the focus
In case I lost my train of thought, where was it that we last left off?(Let's pick up, pick up)Oh now I do recall" Like he has to try and remember her and he's saying he's not going to let her ruin his life--"Lets not get selfish did you really think I'd let you kill this chorus?"
  • Dan from Syracuse, NyThis song is not about "cheating lovers" at all. That is just a metaphor. This, like all Panic songs is about the scene. The singer represents the scene singing about how great he was for this band (the girl), but she sold out (cheated). The irony is that this was Panic's sell out album, but still good none the less.
  • Krissy from Boston, MaI love this song. Plus Brendon is very cute.
  • Sabrina from Halifax, MaWhen he says 'I've got more wit, a better kiss, a hotter touch and a better f---' he's saying that he's better than the other guy, and then hes telling her that she had him.
  • Kate from San Angelo, TxThis song is about a girl who cheats on her boyfriend and in the first couple sentences it seems like he is telling her he hopes it was worth it and hes also saying that he is better then any guy she will ever meet and as him saying he hopes it was worth it meaning that it killed him and then around the middle and last its saying like a director in the movies that is when the shock will set in as in when the boyfriend dies. (still not sure if i got it right or got it to a understanding lol)
  • Sammi from Cleveland, OhI luv this song!!! My second fave on the album.
  • Tabitha from Brooklyn Park, MdThis song is about teen romance, and how a girl cheated on her girlfriend ["I hope to God he was worth it"], and how he's leaving her to find someone better. "The shock sets in" on the girl when she finally realizes that she made a huge mistake and she wishes she could change it.
