Legendary guitarist Joe Walsh’s career dates back to 1966 in Ohio. His first band, James Gang<\/a>, formed as a trio with Joe Walsh on guitar and vocals, Tom Kriss on bass, and Jim Fox on the drums. They released their first album, Yer’ Album, in 1969. This was the only album to feature Tom Kriss on bass, as he was replaced by Dale Peters shortly after its release. It was the group’s second album in 1970, James Gang Rides Again, that generated the minor hit “Funk #49.” Though the track peaked at No. 59 on the Billboard<\/em> Hot 100, it became one of Walsh’s classic songs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their 1971 album, brilliantly titled Thirds<\/em>, generated another of Walsh’s early identifiable tracks. The single “Walk Away” peaked at No 51 on the Hot 100, and the album reached gold status in 1972. With the release of James Gang Live In Concert in 1971, Joe Walsh left the group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following Walsh’s departure from James Gang, he formed a new group called Barnstorm. Their debut album, Barnstorm<\/em>, is considered Joe Walsh<\/a>‘s debut solo effort. The debut album contained the minor hit, “Turn To Stone.” A second album titled The Smoker You Drink, The Player You Get<\/em> contained the hit single, “Rocky Mountain Way.” By this time, the group was often referred to as Joe Walsh and his band Barnstorm. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
