It also hints at the idea of \u201cself\u201d and the running conversations people have with their own consciousness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Running from yourself now,<br>Can\u2019t hear what you\u2019re told.<br>Never let your guard down,<br>Anywhere you go.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Regardless of good fortune or success, self-doubt remains. Use any metaphor you like, whether a wall you can\u2019t get past or an anchor that causes you to sink, the obstacle remains impenetrable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>In the right place,<br>At the right time,<br>And still you sink into the floor<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Though \u201cNever Enough\u201d feels personal and direct, it echoes the larger, more existential themes of the album.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cVastness and this idea of being a small piece in a larger universe and the fear or peace that can come from that is a theme that makes its way around the album a bit,\u201d Yates <a href=\"https:\/\/www.the-independent.com\/arts-entertainment\/music\/features\/turnstile-never-enough-charli-xcx-outbreak-glastonbury-b2759554.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told<\/a> <em>The Independent<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Charli XCX and Turnstile Summer<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Though it\u2019s grounded in doubt, \u201cNever Enough\u201d feels like a self-empowerment anthem. It acknowledges patterns of uncertainty and, against a backdrop of big riffs and hazy synths, offers a way out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI think I can be really hard on myself, I\u2019m trying to figure out how to be a little easier,\u201d Yates said. \u201cI\u2019m trying to get better at trusting intuition and embracing the intangible and not needing to be so hard and critical of myself because I think that can be a never-ending cycle if you do that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Judging by his band\u2019s continued rise, it seems Yates\u2019s intuition has proved to be reliable. Perhaps this is why Charli XCX <a href=\"https:\/\/www.loudersound.com\/bands-artists\/charli-xcx-predicted-turnstile-summer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">proclaimed<\/a> at last year\u2019s Coachella that \u201cBrat summer\u201d was over.
