It has peaked at No. 12 on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart since its release. Sombr’s sophomore album hasn’t been officially announced, but is expected to follow three new singles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Potential”<\/a> is about a relationship ending too soon and the narrator’s struggle to accept it. The first verse indicates how comfortable the two were around each other. This is referenced in the opening lines about her lack of makeup around him. “Every time we’d wake up, I got to see you with no makeup \/ Yeah, you hated how it looked off \/ But, baby, that’s just how you grew up.”<\/em> Looking back on this moment of trust and comfort fuels his feelings of discontent after the breakup.
