But in her country hit, Langley learns a hard lesson about roots and the strength of nostalgia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The lead single from Langley\u2019s second album, <em>Dandelion<\/em>, has now spent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-country\/ella-langley-morgan-wallen-billboard-record-1235606285\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">17 weeks at No. 1<\/a>. But in \u201cChoosin\u2019 Texas\u201d, her romantic partner isn\u2019t sticking around. He can\u2019t resist the tug home. And the singer\u2019s man is settling in. But he hasn\u2019t just returned to his home state. His natural resting place seems to be with this Texas girl.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>She\u2019s from Texas, I can tell by the way,<br>He\u2019s two-steppin\u2019 \u2019round the room.<br>And judging by the smile that\u2019s written on his face,<br>There\u2019s nothing I can do.<br>It doesn\u2019t take a crystal ball to see,<br>A cowboy always finds a way to leave.<br>Drinking Jack all by myself,<br>He\u2019s choosin\u2019 Texas, I can tell<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While Langley was lovesick, her man stayed homesick. Eventually he\u2019d go home. And here, in Tennessee, he\u2019s only visiting.<br><br><em>Well, I guess he forgot about the Smoky Mountain rain,<br>Them old Hank tunes, the Memphis blues we used to sing.<br>He always loved \u201cAmarillo By Morning\u201d,<br>I should\u2019ve taken that as a warning<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Eastbound and Down<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Even with a partner, there are long stretches of I-40 that feel unbearably lonely. But the further away Langley gets from Texas, and her man, the more lonesome she feels.
