In 2012, The Killers released their fourth album, Battle Born<\/em>, with “Miss Atomic Bomb”<\/a> as its second single. But the song has a connection to The Killers’ biggest hit, released eight years prior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Miss Atomic Bomb” tells the story of a man whose life is blown up by the woman he loves. The videom in particular, has been called “the epic companion to ‘Mr. Brightside’.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That video is a combination of live action and animation, and features live-action sequences. It follows an older man as he reminisces about a romance in his younger days, which make up the animated segments. It features Izabella Miko and Eric Roberts, both reprising their roles from the original video. Ultimately, the ending of the video reveals that the man’s suspicions of his partner cheating on him were rooted in paranoia and jealousy. None of it actually happened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two tracks also share some musical connections. Around the 3:36 mark of “Miss Atomic Bomb,” the unmistakable bassline from “Mr. Brightside” plays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Frontman Brandon Flowers had the title in mind first. It was taken from the name of an actual beauty pageant, and he built the song around it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I tied it into \u2018Mr. Brightside\u2019, so that was very easy for me to write,” he once explained<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
